Ⅰ Corinthians 3:6-7

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”

You can take the seed of your favorite kind of plant and put it in the ground,  water it, and do all that you can to make it grow, but you will never make that seed grow. All you are doing is creating the right environment for the seed to bring forth the life already inside of it. That is what the five-fold ministry does for the Bride of Christ. The Apostle Paul confirmed that not even he, or the ministers with him, could grow the seeds, but only God could make the church grow. All Paul did was plant the seed and others watered it.

Matthew Henry, in his commentary, stated the following:

“We should take care not to deify ministers, nor put them into the place of God. Apostles were not the authors of our faith and religion, though they were authorized and qualified to reveal and propagate it. They acted in this office as God gave to every man. Observe, all the gifts and powers that even apostles discovered and exerted in the work of the ministry were from God.”

The ministry plants the seeds of the Word, other ministry comes and waters the seed. Pastors create an atmosphere for the seed to grow in every Sunday, evangelists bring the heat, teachers come in and pull the weeds, but it is God that gives the growth.

We must always remember that it is God who gives increase in our lives. We must thank the ministry for being a part of God’s plan and pray for them daily, but we cannot misplace the glory. God deserves the glory for the maturity of His Bride.

Just stay in the environment where you can grow, keep your family watered, keep your life free from weeds, and let God do the increasing.

You that don’t know where you’re standing, you’re not sure about it, just an intellectual, or some kind of an emotional; you’ve cried, you’ve wept, or you—you had some kind of a sensation. Don’t you try to get There on that. Remember, I tell you in the Name of the Lord, that you are lost, miserably lost, and don’t know it. Don’t take a chance, friend. I’m only sowing seed, and pulling the net. God takes the increase.
