Luke 6:45

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”

It only takes one sentence to tear someone down, but it only takes one sentence to make somebody's day better as well.  The best way to stop gossip in its tracks is this: when you hear someone being talked about in a negative way, and that person has done nothing to justify it, then say something good about that person. It will not only bring the conversation to a swift end, but it will plant the seeds of good conversation about that person. If you are the one starting the conversations, then you may want to give your motives the Word test.

Jesus told the Pharisees that they were hypocrites because they did and said one thing, but in their heart they were thinking another. It was this attitude that caused them to miss who Jesus really was.  Eventually, their hearts spoke through their mouths when they crucified Jesus. The mouth is the one that speaks, but it is really the heart that is in control.

You can say all manner of things, but in the end, what is in your heart will come out. We must be sure that what we say is really what is in our heart. If we don’t have anything good to say, then we should just leave it unsaid.

What is in your heart will come out of your mouth eventually. What is in your heart? Let the Lord search your heart and take away what doesn’t belong.

63-0112 - “Influence”

You know, the sheep isn't asked to manufacture wool. No. He can't manufacture it. These gifts cannot be manufactured by emotion. This Church cannot be manufactured by organization. A sheep bears wool because he is a sheep. He can't help bearing wool, for his whole system is made up to bear wool. We must be what we are inside, not something outside. How can we know what's right, then speak something contrary? Did not Jesus say, "You hypocrites! How can you say good things, when, out of the abundance the heart, speaketh the mouth?" See? We must be sure that when we speak these things, that they're correct.
