Exodus 25:22

“And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.”

In the sermon The Deity of Jesus Christ, in 1949, Brother Branham said, “...man lost his origin in the garden of Eden. His relationship, communion with God was cut off there because of sin and unbelief. Unbelief in what? The Word of God.” In the beginning there was perfect communion between God and man; God came down and walked with Adam in the cool of the evening. There was an exchange of feelings and conversation between Adam and his maker. He knew God’s feelings just as much as God knew His.

When the serpent came into the picture, starting with unbelief in the Word of God, it was the first breaking away of this beautiful relationship between man and God. On the basis of His own Word God could not commune as He had intended, thus it required a sacrifice to display the redemptive attribute of Himself to His people. Because of Jesus Christ there is a place where we can regain that communion, in part, in this life. That is in the Word of God.

Christ communing with His Bride above the mercy seat. We can see beyond the veil, the mercy seat, Jesus Christ hanging on the cross. His life doesn’t just continue to hang there, He arose and is now living in you so that you could be in communion with Him. The veil was rent so that those who are in Christ can commune with Him.

There are some days that communion with Christ seems so elusive. It may seem an impossible reality, but it is available to those who are hid away in Christ. Just continue to stay with His Word and stay with His truth, He will bring you to where you need to be.

62-0204 - “Communion”

And that's what's the matter today, we got better-dressed Christians, bigger churches, and a lot of—of education, lot of theology, but they have to be babied all the time, you have to look through their glass or you're not seeing at all. What we need is some thoroughbred Christians, born under the Blood of the Lord Jesus, that live not off of church theology, but off of the Word of God, the communion with Christ. The Word coming into the believer, his—his spiritual body is built up. Not a hothouse baby!
