Titus 2:5
“To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

Our society would say that Brother Branham, “woman hater”, has “doomed” women to the kitchen. To some, it would seem his preaching was in this vein of thought, but it couldn’t be farther from the Truth. Society was all out of place in the 1950’s and 1960’s, with World War II having driven more and more women into the workforce. It changed the mechanics of the American home. Modern culture is the product of such thinking, which was in its newborn state during Brother Branham’s time.

Brother Branham, however, was speaking of Scripture when he preached such things. For example, one of the amazing revelations that can be drawn from the sermon Marriage and Divorce is that when a husband finds his place in Christ, the wife will naturally fall into her place. Marriage is not that the man lords his authority over the woman, bringing her into subjection; but a proper marriage is when the husband cultivates a strong and healthy relationship with Christ, and the wife then has something she would willingly want to submit to.

Until the man has this relationship with Christ, there is an imbalance within the home. Matthew Henry wrote, “Women were created from the rib of man to be beside him, not from his head to top him, nor from his feet to be trampled by him, but from under his arm to be protected by him, near to his heart, to be loved by him” (Matthew Henry, An Exposition of the Old and New Testament).

God created a woman different than a man. This is not a bad thing, but a testament as to how important a place the woman has within the body of Christ and within her own home. How precious is a Godly woman in the sight of God!

God knows we need more woman like that today. When womanhood is broke, the backbone of the nation is broke. When women get to a place that our American women are today, it’s a disgrace the way our American women act. I got a clipping out of the paper, that I believe, it was about sixty percent of the boys that went overseas in this last war, was divorced from their wives before they come back, their wives running off with somebody else in these defense plants, working. She has got no business in a defense plant. A woman’s place is at home with her children. And when she… Now if her husband’s sick and she has to work, that’s different. But woman’s place is at home in the kitchen, and when she leaves that she’s out of her place. Exactly right.
