Romans 8:14

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Sheep are very interesting animals. When comparing them to followers of Christ, from the Scriptural analogy of Christ as the good Shepherd and we His sheep, some surprising characteristics come into view. One thing that sheep do is stay in herds. If they get out by themselves they get agitated, so they flock together in large herds. If one sheep decides to go left the others will usually all follow. If the left doesn’t garner any support, that sheep will go right with all the rest of them. They simply don’t lead themselves.

Sometimes we can make a move, switch jobs, or start a new relationship without seeking the Lord’s leadership at all. That is not how Christ intended His church to be. We might move too quickly and get off track very quickly because we are following what someone else thought or advised, instead of abiding by the leading and prompting of the one who created us and knows us best. One thing about sheep, they have to be led.

The Lord wants His Believers to learn how to be led by the Holy Spirit. Learning to listen to His voice, having the courage to follow His leading, and following even though we don’t know where it is leading, are all things God brings us through in life.

The quality of being led allows God the ability to change us and mold us in His way. When we make all the decisions without praying and seeking Him, it is simply “herd” mentality. He is the good shepherd, and we must follow the Shepherd. Don’t be looking so much to those around you, but look straight on to the Word.

Listen for His voice, have courage to follow His leading, and trust He has a perfect end in mind. He promised never to leave you nor forsake you. Just be led.

64-0415 - “Christ Is Identified The Same In All Generations”

Many times we get nervous and we begin to think, "Well, it ought to be this way, and we've got to make it this way or make it that way." We don't have nothing to do into it; just play our part that He leads us to play. Remember, there's nothing out of cater. The great omnipotent God knows just exactly, before the foundation of the world, that we would sit here tonight. If He's infinite, He has to. So, He can't be infinite without knowing all things. And by His foreknowledge He knew that this meeting would be here; and perhaps ordained of Him, I trust that it is, to bring some more into His Kingdom.
