James 2:19

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

I strongly doubt that demons and spirits play hopscotch while waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack. They don’t fiddle away their time or sit idle and read the newspaper on their days off. They put effort and time into their devious tasks. They are pressed hard and firm into making you fall.

In Mark 9:29 a story unfolds of a deaf and mute spirit that controlled a young boy. It was so intently clinging to its victim that none of the disciples could command its release. It was so intently attached that it even caused the boy to convulse when it left at the command of almighty God Himself. This shows how strongly and intently focused our enemy is at tearing us down and holding us bound.

You cannot be possessed by a demon as a born again Holy Ghost filled Believer. You can, however, be oppressed by a spirit.  Satan has worked long and hard to attack your weak spots, to trap you in the most vulnerable of times. He is always plotting and ever learning to know when the perfect opportunity will arise to pounce like a lion on its prey. Satan’s process almost always goes unseen until it is too late. C.S. Lewis in his book the Screwtape letters wrote, “Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one--the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.” Although a born again Believer has no fear of death and hell, you must watch out for the oppressing burden of a spirit whose entire purpose is to cause you to fall.

The Scripture gives us the best defense against this: Christ’s shed blood. No power, however strongly it may clutch to its victim, can stand against the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The Word says to draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. It says, in every temptation, He hath already made a way of escape. He is a strong tower the righteous can run into and be saved. The whole of the Scripture is written directly to you to prepare you for this epic war which will rage until the day of redemption is complete. Exposing the spirit to the light of the cross will cause a reaction in the demon that will cause it to quiver and convulse and finally flee.

It is faith and the power of God that will move an unclean spirit. So keep an eye out for them today and stand firm in the power of God. If you are oppressed, get before the Lord in faith and cry unto Him and there isn’t a demon out of torment can stand in your way.

52-1027 - “Jesus Christ The Same Yesterday, Today, And Forever”

You think that I'm just asking His blessings for the people. They been healed. See? You might not see. Healing doesn't consist of excitement; healing consists of power. See? I've seen many who… It's not—it's not emotion: healing. You just stomp, and scream, and cry at the demons; they won't move. But, faith: they recognize. See? That's just what takes place. You see? Watch the people, you'll see what I mean.
