Proverbs 3:3-4
“Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.”

Is finding favor with man okay?

Sometimes we wonder whether or not we are trying to find the favor of man instead of the favor of God. In searching after the one, we may totally miss the other. There is nothing wrong with having favor with man, in fact, it is important to do so. But take care that in finding the favor of man, it doesn’t come above finding the favor of God. God must come first, and that is how you find favor with man.

Finding favor is finding support, approval, or appreciation from someone. In the Scripture Solomon writes that God’s mercy and truth are the things we must search for. When we find them we must bind them around our necks, that is, write them in the very habits and natures of our lives. When we do this, God’s mercy brings us to the place where Grace takes  hold of our lives. When we are living in the Grace of God, the Holy Spirit can lead us into His Truth. When we are abiding in the Word and the Word, by His Grace, is abiding in us, then we shall find favor with God.

When we find this favor with God, which is something that we should seek after more than anything else, other people around us understand that Christ is the center of our lives and we can also find favor with them. When we find favor with someone we can also be an effective witness in their lives. There is nothing we should seek more than the favor of God. We must make sure that we are doing so and not just seeking the favor of mankind.
49-0718 - “I Was Not Disobedient To The Heavenly Vision”
Not long ago in California, some of the Armenian people, who had all sold out of their winery and things, sent me a check—a check that amounted to more than a million dollars. And I wouldn't even put my hands upon it. I sent them back. I'd rather be poor and live in a shack and have favor with God, and the feeling that I had the satisfaction I love Him, than all the wealth the world owns. And when one of those little cross-eyed children, and their eyes are straightened… That poor old mother done crippled up, for her to be healed, that means more than all the money the world has. And it's no charges; it's absolutely free. I have nothing to do with it. I'm just trying to make my body an instrument to help other people.
