Ecclesiastes 12:12

And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

“To the writing of books, there is no end.” Wiser words have never been spoken. Actually, they were said by the wisest man who ever lived. There will never be an end to applying the knowledge, wisdom, and experience we have in written form, such as books, essays, and articles. Even if we combined all of the knowledge from all of the books, the study of them would simply weary the mind and body. It is a never ending cycle of study, then writing, only to study and write again. This process, however, is necessary - especially for ministers - to communicate a message effectively.

Solomon then says, “Let’s hear the end of the whole matter: just Fear God and keep His commandments”. This is the most important thing that you could do. In fact, it is your duty. The question is, what shall we do to experience God? What shall we do to attain peace? What shall we do to attain purpose? Do our duty.

You can be wearied and confused by the constant study, the constant writing, and the constant reading. Solomon says, “when you get weary don’t forget the conclusion of the whole matter.” Don’t forget, and keep reminding yourself of what is really important. Fear the Lord with all that is in you.

We study, we read, we write.  Necessary though they are, we must never forget the end of the whole matter: fear God and keep His commandments. Don’t worry about all you don’t know, because it will come as God reveals it to you through study. Just keep doing what you do know.

Now, man once was made, even in our polluted condition that we are today, man was made to serve God. That's His full duty on the earth. Hear the great, wisest man, Solomon, and all the rest of them, speaking in the Ecclesiastes, he said, "Let's hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the full duty of man." That's the full duty of man.
