Psalms 18:34

He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

There is one resounding principle that every Believer should notice from the military genius Sun Tzu, “Victorious warriors win first, then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first, then seek to win.” This is very true when it comes to fighting our spiritual enemy as Believers. In fact, King David as a young man already understood what Sun Tzu explains. David knew that if the Lord was on his side he could go into battle, not only prepared, but could go into the battle already a victor. All he needed to have was faith.

So many times something will happen and the enemy will completely blindside you. Sometimes it will leave you thinking, “What did I just do, what did I just say?” Rest assured the enemy is always preparing to fight you, always preparing to strike you a blow. What better things do demons have to do? But if this be true, the Lord has provided a way of escape from the blows of the enemy.

His way of escape is to provide you with the greatest weapon that will ever come into existence and also teach you how to use it. King David understood that it was God who taught Him how to fight. We fight by the Word of God. So then God’s way of escape for you is to allow you to live your life and fight the good fight of faith, knowing that your enemy is already defeated and your weapon can conquer any enemy you set your eyes on. By faith in this truth, from the first time you open your eyes in the morning, you can begin your day with the attitude of an overcomer.

Don’t start your day and find yourself in the battle and then try to win it. You can start your day already an overcomer, then you can go into battle and nothing can stand before you.

Do you have the attitude of an overcomer? Are you training for the fight? Pick up your sword, the Word, and go and fight a good fight.

62-1231 - “The Contest”

Now, training for a contest is just like a boxer. His—his enemy that he's going to meet out there in a contest, to fight, a real good fighter usually knows and studies his opponent. He studies his licks, knows where he fights for, whether he leans forward, hangs back, fights right-handed or left-handed. He studies all this. And then if he's a good, smart fighter, he gets him a sparring partner that'll fight just like his opponent fights, for he'll know all of his licks when he gets to that place.

And I think that's a very good thing for Christians to do. That's right. And now if you want to start training, start with John 3:16, the Golden Rule. Start right out with that, and that'll get you on the floor. And then train for the—for the knockout punches, because you're going to have to use them. Everybody knows that. You have to train to hit your enemy. And always, God uses His Word. We must remember that God uses His Word to defeat His enemy. If God could think or could have give His people anything better to defeat the enemy with, He would have done it. So as I have always said, "When God makes a decision, that's the best that there is. He never has to alter His decisions." So the first decision God gave His people in the garden of Eden, to combat the enemy, was His Word. They were fortified with His Word.
