Joshua 1:7

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

As Believers, we have a promise that we can always hold to. The promise stems all the way back to Abraham, where the Lord said He would be a God to the spiritual and natural seed of Abraham, make them fruitful and watch over them if they walked in His ways. The same God was present with Joshua as he led the children of Israel into the promised land. He told Joshua not turn to the left nor to the right in their ways, but keep all of the law and persevere. He told them to be courageous and stay away from the world’s gods. If they clave to God, He would help them possess their promised land!

When God gives a promise, He always keeps it. As He told Joshua in Joshua 1:5, "There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." So in order to fulfill the promise, you must stay with the Word. Just as God gave the law to Moses, Joshua had to keep it in order for him to receive the promise.

If we remain walking in the Word for our day,  if we stick to the Word of God, then we can lay claim to the promise of the Holy Spirit. He is the strength for our daily battles.

Let us take courage then, to know that we are in Christ, if His Word abides in us and we walk in His Word. If that be true, then there is no weapon formed against us each day that could overcome us (Isaiah 54:17).

Do you live with courage? Are you easily turned to the right or the left? Stay straight and true on the Word of God, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

63-0114 - “A Trumpet Gives An Uncertain Sound”

All through the criticism, all through the differences, all through the creeds, how they've tried to stomp out that Word of God! How they tried to substitute education. They tried to substitute, make denomination. They have confused themselves. And out of all of it, the Word of God still stands just as bright and shiny as she ever did. What is it? It's that thing that is certain. God said, "Both heavens and earth will pass away, but My Word shall not fail." Then, that's something that's certain. You want to anchor yourself. Anchor that Word in your heart. 95  David said he hid It in his heart, that he would sin not. He wrote His laws upon the bedpost, and tied them to his hands and everywhere, put His Word always before him. That's the way. Keep your mind constantly… 96 God told Joshua, "Don't turn to the right or to the left, from It. Then thou shall make thy ways prosperous. Then you shall have good success."
