1 Thessalonians 2:18-19

Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us. For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

Have you ever wanted to be somewhere and tried to get there, but something along the way hindered your journey and you couldn’t make it? The Apostle Paul experienced the exact same thing when he wrote to the Thessalonians. He assured the Thessalonians that his heart was with them and the church in Thessalonica, even though he could not be there in person.

The reason he couldn’t be there is because Satan hindered his journey. Something happened that caused Paul to be unable to be there, and his heart was broken because of it. Rest assured that, if you are a child of God, all the ability of the enemy is stirred up against you, to try to hinder your every spiritual move. If Satan tried to hinder Paul, he will try to hinder you.

The key against this attack of the enemy is prayer and love one for another. If someone is going to be making a journey, pray for them. If you are about to do something important, ask someone to pray for you. I remember that while in university, it was the prayers of my closest friends that got me through some of the toughest exams I had to take.

When you cling together in Godly love, it proves that the love of God is moving inside. The love of God toward each other, and the effectual fervent prayer for one another, raises a standard against the whirlwind of the enemy. When the Lord raises His standard against the enemy, it is not easily broken.

Are you working toward raising a standard against the enemy, or giving in to the hinderance Satan imposes? Ask people to pray for you, and in turn, pray for those around you. Let the love of God be a reality in your life, both in action and in obedience to His Word.

A threefold cord is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Someone is praying for you today. Who are you praying for?

Now, you think Satan is going to let this go on like this, without a hindrance? Oh, no. He sure won't. He is going to fly in, one of these days, just like a whirlwind. But when the—when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of God raises a standard against it. Just keep lifting yourself up in prayer before God. Cling to one another. Hold to God. For, if you love one another, it shows you love God. "This will all men know, that you're My disciples, when you have love one for the other."
