John 13:34-35

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

The Lord sees all things. He sees the innermost reaches of your heart. He knows the motive behind every action you make, sometimes even when you do not know why you are doing it. He searches the hearts (Jeremiah 17:10). The Lord knows why we say the things we do, and what we do when someone says things about us.

This truth, that the Lord sees right through your every move, will humble you pretty quickly. It stops you in your tracks and makes you think. So many times, we get caught up in situations and circumstances, and start talking about one another. Rumors circulate, we say things about people, and people say things about us. It is easy for this to happen in our age, with so much social interaction taking place in cyberspace. Before we know it, we have ingrained a habit in our mind to speak bad about someone before we even realize what we are doing, or to react wrongly when something is said about us. Is there room for the fruits of the Spirit to work in our hearts anymore?

The freedom of the Holy Spirit to show forth His fruits in your life begins with one person, and that is you. You must constantly abide in His presence in order for the Holy Spirit to have the freedom to make you long suffering when things are being said about you, and be disciplined when you have the ability to say things about others.

The Bride should never gossip or backbite one another. Such is the practice of heathens and fallen creatures. Oh, how the sweetness of God is so much greater, and is within our grasp if only we would lay aside our temptations to react too quickly and speak out of place, and just love one another.

You are God’s special chosen Bride. He chose you and died for you, and reveals His Word through you. You are a reflection of God’s love. Will you let yourself reflect the love of God today? Will you choose to love one another, as He first loved us?

Let yourself be known as His disciple and genuinely love one another.

60-0229 - “The Oncoming Storm”

Are you abiding in that blessed, sacred Presence of the Lord? Have you passed from death unto Life? Are you resting upon some emotion, some psychological effect, or some intellectual speech? Or are you constantly abiding in His Presence, with the fruit of the Spirit in your life: long-suffering, goodness, meekness, gentleness? Can you bear for someone to talk about you, and you love them so much, till in your heart you pray for them? Or is it a selfish little prayer, "O Lord, I know I ought to pray for him, but…" Oh, no, brother. Does that sweetness and love of God, "Oh, sweep over my soul. O Holy Spirit, sweep over my soul." If you haven't found that place of safety, my brother…
