Jeremiah 17:7-8

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Have you ever had a plant or a flower that you snipped off the ground or from a bush? You were able to enjoy the plant and view the beauty of that flower only for a while. After some time away from the rest of the bush the flower begins to fade and wither. Eventually the strong vibrant flower will become a withered ugly stub. A flower will stay beautiful if it has a life giving source attached underneath it.

Just like a plant, the spiritual life of a believer needs to have a source of life, and that source needs to be eternal everlasting life. This spiritual life only comes from the Word of God. We need to be firmly established where we can receive the life giving resources of almighty God. The Word for this day points us to Christ and reveals to us His plan and His purpose in our lives.

A plant cut off of its root source will wither and die, but a Believer firmly established on the life giving vine of Almighty God will flourish and thrive with life from within. A Believer doesn’t have to worry about getting a source of life from the world or entertainment, they have life coming from within them. Through the hardest trials God will keep you going and keep you strong.

Are you firmly planted in the Lord? Are you able to draw from the right source?

Trust in the Lord and you will be like a tree planted by the water.

59-0920 - “Planting The Vine And Where To Plant It”

The woman said… When He asked the question, "Would you bring me a drink?" She said, "But, it's not customary for you, a man, a Jew, to ask a Samaritan, like myself, such a question." He said, "But if you knew…" Other words, like this. "If you knew how close you were to the Fountain of Life, I'd give you waters that you wouldn't come here to draw. I'll transplant you, you Samaritan." "I'll bring you, you sinner, that's a unbeliever and doesn't believe in it. If you'll only let Me pluck you up this morning," He said, "I'll plant you by the rivers of water. I'll put you in a position by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that you'll believe every Word that I say is the truth. If you'll just let Me pluck you up this morning, You'd be a good branch. You don't belong in that wild vineyard. You belong over here, so let Me pluck you up and plant you in My Name by the side of the rivers, every tributary of God's Word, where every Word of God is true, every Divine promise is the truth. And I will plant you by the rivers of one Water, one God. And you'll bring forth fruit in your season. Your leaves shall not wither, and whatsoever you do will prosper. You'll stand when there's no other place to stand; you'll stand anyhow, knowing that God made the promise."
