II Corinthians 10:3-5

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

In Biblical times, there was very little that could be attained and kept secure without a hands-on fight. Swords, battles, and warfare were just a part of life in those days, even from Noah’s time to the book of Acts. War was such a part of the Israelites’ way of life that all throughout the Old Testament you see both man and God referring to war and fighting in how they approached life’s situations. Even many of the mightiest men in the Bible were great warriors and fighters.

God showed forth His glory and His might through the many battles that were fought. The Lord also taught many lessons to His people through defeat. One thing that was consistent in the history of Israel is that they won their victories only through the Lord’s help and most likely lost because they tried to fight in their own way.

We must realize that in our day and time the attacks of the enemy are very different, but our adversary is still the same. Many times satan attacks subtly in ways we cannot see. However, we cannot always confuse hard circumstances and stressful times for an attack of the enemy. We must seek God for peace in hard times. He has already given us what we need to fight the enemy and tear down his strongholds in our lives.

Rest assured, the victory has already been won. In our struggle, He never gives us more than we can bear. We have a mighty weapon in Christ which is His Word. Through the Word, we can defeat every enemy that stands in our way.

Throughout your day, fight with the Word. Hold the Word in your heart so that you don’t do anything to displease the Lord. Don’t try to go at this life yourself, but let the instruction and encouragement of the Word do your fighting. Stay in the Word, because it’s the mighty weapon that lets the enemy know he is already defeated.

62-0531 - "The Conflict Between God And Satan"
60 But, God, at the beginning, gave His children the atomic weapon, because He's the infinite God. Now, seeing there was going to be a conflict, and there was going to be a battle, God equipped His children with the right kind of ammunition, right kind of an attack, the right kind of everything that they had need of, that would sweep them all the way from Eden to the Rapture. What was it? The Word. The Word. That's what defeats Satan, is the Word. It'll defeat him anywhere, any place. Now, why do we want to substitute something else, when we've already got the best thing that there is, the Word?
