First and Foremost

Colossians 1:15-19

“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell.”

God intended in the beginning, before any of this world was created, that in all things He might have the preeminence. The “preeminence” means to surpass all others, having the superiority, and having paramount rank. He purposed that Christ would be the head of the body, the church, so that He could have all of the preeminence. It pleased God that all the fullness of the Godhead would dwell in Christ so that this would be the case.

The first thing we must do is let the Word of God shine forth. God cannot have the preeminence in us if we are so covered up in worldly things that He doesn’t have priority. We cause the Holy Spirit to lose priority by putting something else above Him. This gets worse over time. That phrase, “Give the devil an inch and he will take a mile,” is true. We start slacking up on our prayer lives, then after a while we aren’t even praying at all. It happens to the best of us.

The trick is to keep the Word first and foremost. Hide it in your heart and always keep it first and foremost. When you do this you create an avenue that the Holy Spirit can work in. This allows Him to have the preeminence because the Holy Spirit operates on the basis of His Word. Don’t let Him lose preeminence in your life. Keep Him first and foremost.

63-0728 - “Christ Is The Mystery Of God Revealed”
It depends on where you're born from. If you're born of the Word of God, God's Word has the preeminences in His Church. That's what He died for. That's His purpose, that He might be able to achieve, to have His preeminence working in His Church. Let the Word of God shine forth, first, no matter what anything else looks like. I don't care if the intellectuals says this, that, the other, it has nothing to do with It. God's Word said so, and we are more than able to take it!
